Jointly produced by Saif Ali Khan, Dinesh Vijan and Sunil Lulla under the banner of Eros International, Maddock Films and Illuminati Films, it is the debut directorial venture of Arif Ali, who was the assistant writer of the film Aahista Aahista, written by his brother Imtiaz Ali. The film has music scored by A. R. Rahman. The film was released on 4 July 2014。离乡多年的雷福兴，因为儿子意外离世（儿子公园湖里救人），加之对儿子从小到大抚养的愧疚之情，想带着儿子的骨灰回到家乡，落叶归根，让儿子入土为安。但回乡之后，却遇到了重重阻挠，身为族长的二叔因为“老的不死，小的不能进祖坟”族训，不允许福兴儿子埋进祖坟，福兴面对着陈旧的族训，进行了作为父亲和新时代思想对封建一派的抗争。最终，那教条般的陈规还是成为了无法弥合的枷锁，福兴只能带着儿子的骨灰，在北方的原野中独孤的游荡。。
