剧本来自剧中人物夏祖林的日记《可怜天下父母心》，本剧描述了现实中15岁就患脊髓小脑运动变异症，到最后26岁时候开始不能说不能动的夏祖林的前半生所经历，在这段经历中父母的苦心孤诣，还有亲人的陪伴。。Stand-up comic Deon Cole is set to return to Netflix with a third hour-long comedy special, to premiere later this year. While a title and logline haven’t been shared, he’ll tape his new hour at the LA Theater on May 2nd, as part of Netflix Is A Joke Fest 2024.。
