宋世杰（张达明 饰）是清末广东一带闻名遐迩的大状师，以口齿伶俐聪明博学著称。然而本性爱钱，为了聚财可以不分黑白替财大气粗的人打官司。妻子白玲珑（郭蔼明 饰）是武门之后，夫妻二人素来恩爱有加，但是苦无所出。后容易怀上了孩子，却连连险象环生。宋父认为是世杰作孽太多的缘故，为了保住子嗣，世杰开始帮有冤无处诉的穷人打官司，向来臭名远扬的名声开始转变。玲珑顺利诞下麟儿，然而在杭州遇上了美貌少妇杨柳青（翁虹 饰）杀父一案，世杰懵然不知地踏入了他人早已准备好的圈套……。柏林电影节新生代单元 Sasha doesn't have a father, but an earring - reason enough for his teenage mother to worry.
