本剧以新中国成立前后具有代表性的公安国保干部、战士为原型，塑造了高诚、严军、刘忠、董琦、祁雯蕾、张岚等一批国保英雄。他们凭借大智大勇，笑迎挑战，和以国民党保密局局长毛人凤为首的特务群斗智斗勇，一次次化险为夷。他们用自己的无怨无悔、理想信念为共和国新政权的稳定取得了不可磨灭的贡献。。牙医Hye-jin是一个完美主义者，亦因为这性格令她的工作和生活不愉快，最后更被辞去。于是她由市区搬到偏远山区居住，设立自己的诊所。当她搬到山区后，便认识了Doo-shik。原来Doo-shik在这个镇内身兼多职──既是中国餐馆的外卖速递员，又是一间便利店的文员。除此之外，他还在区内一家咖啡店当歌手、更兼任油站入油员。Hye-jin开始发现Doo-shik仿如是自己生活的一切。。Over the centuries only few caravans dared to cross the northern route of the silk road that today lies in the territory of Kazakhstan.
