Her bullying older brother Mickey informs her that Santa insn't real and that their absent father is actually far away, serving his country in the Vietnam War。林文山是个朴实勤劳的人力车夫，因牵涉到一件凶杀案而惶惶不安，一位干练正直的刑事陈正雄在命案现场发现的蛛丝马迹，证明林文山与凶杀案有关，将之逮捕，经过慎重调查结果，断定林文山只是个被人嫁祸的受害者，于是向林文山太太秋华保证日内即可释放，当陈正雄正对凶嫌握有线索时……。
