故事发生在北京。丁伟（李健 饰）与冯川（肖肖 饰）相爱三年，第一次被冯川领回家见丈母娘（王丽云 饰），当岳母知道他没房子时，态度急转之下，明确表态没房甭想结婚。远在农村的父母知道了儿子的难处，千方百计给他筹钱，这让当儿子的丁伟十分愧疚，毕业几年了他还没给父母寄过一分钱。这期间，冯川妈见丁伟买房无望，就张罗着给女儿介绍有车有房的罗杰（郭晓秋 饰），冯川死活不同意。丁伟费尽周折靠贷款买下房子，但还贷的压力接踵而来，他与冯川的生活水平直线下降，两人的感情也随之发生了变化，这让丁伟苦不堪言，他开始反思自己的生活……。China O’brien| big city police woman| martial arts trainer, is forced to hand in her badge and head home to her father and the small town where she grew up. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
