The series tells the story of an extended family and four young people who are drawn into the world of ska and two-tone music, which exploded from the grassroots of Coventry and Birmingham in the late 70s and early 80s, uniting black, white, and Asian youths. It is expected to open in 1981 at a moment of huge social tensions and unrest. Against this backdrop, it tells the story...。渴望城市生活的山里女人笋妹，不顾青梅竹马文春的劝留,毅然奔向了华丽的都市。而文春却独自在痛苦中挣扎。在时间的冲洗中,菊子踏入了文春的生活，在一次次独处中，他渐渐和菊子产生了感情。几年后,文春做了一村之长，落魄的笋妹回到了山里，因在外面的不轨行为导致了全村的排斥，自杀的想法不断在笋妹脑海里荡漾。几次被文春所救，慢慢地笋妹冲破了世俗的束缚，二人似乎又回到了当年……。该片通过挖掘南洋会馆里的故事，还原东南亚华人的奋斗历史，以及中国文化在海外的影响力。。
