戰國時代, 秦攻趙. 趙國農女如姬逃亡魏國, 得侯生收為義女, 邂逅魏國公子信陵君. 雖然信陵君欲出兵救趙, 但魏國不允. 姬被選入宮當王妃, 遂藉機討好魏王, 求他出兵幫助趙國, 解秦兵包圍之困, 委王只敷衍答應. 原來魏王已暗中與秦國相交, 還收留趙國叛徒蔡尚禮. 後姬設計灌醉魏王, 盜取「虎符」, 讓信陵君成功率兵解救趙國. 秦退兵後, 姬終被魏王處死. 赴刑時她換回趙國農女服裝, 手持信陵君送給她的玉佩和一朵枯掉了的花.
