三毛是旧社会的苦孩子，他无依无靠，受尽了折磨，但它又是一个善良的、勇敢的好孩子，他的遭遇就是旧社会千千万万少年儿童的遭遇。三毛走遍上海大街小巷，寻找能暂时得以糊口的营生，更是见遍了世态炎凉……。Speedy" loses his job as a soda-jerk, then spends the day with his girl at Coney Island. He then becomes a cab driver and delivers Babe Ruth to Yankee Stadium, where he stays to see the game. When the railroad tries to run the last horse-drawn trolley (operated by his girl's grandfather) out of business, "Speedy" organizes the neighborhood oldtimers to thwart their scheme.。
