本片根据艾德加·赖斯·巴勒斯的小说改编而成。讲述的是第一次世界大战期间，一艘德国潜艇在撞沉一艘英国人的船以后，救起了幸存者。但是这艘潜艇开错了方向，将这些幸存者带到了一片未知的土地上。那里，栖息着大量的恐龙和穴居人。他们能顺利地重返家园吗？。民视推出的古代神仙剧《八仙传奇》，由王耿豪、王美雪、李芳雯、陈怡真、陈俊生、许秀年、游耀光、林佑星、陈文山、郑平君、左孝虎、王淇等人所主演，是一出讲述台湾民间神仙鬼怪，及八仙如何成仙和成仙前劫富济贫的民间故事，于（2006年7月29日）十点首播。1998年就已杀青的民视戏剧「八仙传奇」，终于上档，制作人简远信抱怨，从八点档改成单元剧。也因为八年后（2006年）才播出，剧中演员王美雪、陈俊生与李芳雯都认不出剧中的自己。「八仙传奇」当年花了11个月拍四个单元，原本打算等另外四个单元拍完再播出，没想到一等就等八年。。Plebs is described as "a thoroughly modern comedy in an ancient setting."
